Need help putting hair up for a sport.?

i compete for gymnastics, and these past few meets i can't work out what to do with my hair. i have long, thick, curly hair which is too long/too thick for ponytails or braids- and there are specific rules saying you can't have your hair in your face. so basically i am looking for some kind of way to put my hair up in a tight bun. and i'm NOT talking about those buns where all you do is don't pull a ponytail all the way through, it CANNOT fall out

Hurray for gymnastics! I was a gymnast and I teach it now. I would do pigtail french braids. That way the braids aren't as thick and it won't fall out. Also, if you have to roll around on your head at any time, it won't be in the way with this do. Plus, my mom use to plaster my hair with hairspray before a meet. It was a pain to get out later, but it stayed put till awards time.

when your hair is wet put in aussie catch the wave mousse and then twirl ur hair then roll in into a bun the mousse really helps to hold it and when your hair dries that way it will be easy to style

if you cant put it all in a ponytail then i would say divide your hair into two sections so that you have bunches, and then if you twist each section quite tightly and then wrap it around ina circle and then put another hair band over it to keep it in place then you would have two bun type things. havent really got any other suggestions, hope it helps

Try French braiding it then taking the braids and rolling them together in a bun. then Plaster it with Hairspray....Good luck!

There are a few hair products that you roll your hair around and then bend into place. The bends basically push against your head to hold the style in place. I have thick hair and it does hold well. I am not 100% sure if it will be enough since I am sure gymnastics really will test the strength of any style.

i will tell you what i do for my military bun... it stays in all day long with running and jumping. It will sound funny but i will give you a step by step. This works best with wet hair... so do after your towel dry your hair after the shower

Items you will need: lots of ponytail bands... preferably the ones without the metal peices, a medium sized sock... one that is like the color of your hair... dark hair.. use a black sock... blonde hair use a tan colored sock...etc... a brush... hairspray... and a mirror and scissors to cut your sock.

1: make sock... using a medium size sock like hair color... said above... cut toe of sock off.... and roll up like picture below:

2: Brush hair back into tight ponytail... at the middle of the back of your head. make sure hair is all slicked back... you can use hair spray if you would like....

3. once you have hair in tight slick ponytail... put sock over ponytail like this:

4: Spread hair over sock like this:

5: rubber band the hair around sock like this:

6: Once hair starts looking like a bun.... wrap hair that is hanging down around bun...like this:

7: Secure with tons and tons of ponytails:

It will look better than my pics... my hair is dry and i am not using a mirror... but with wet hair and a mirror... it will look lots better... just practice a few times... it takes a little while to do it... like now i don't even need a mirror... lol! good luck!

You need a perm or a hot comd. Maybe put some greese on that is called black wax. Then put some water on your hair and put it in a ponytail.Like Snoop Dogg. If that don't work I don't what to say.

They sell those little nets for buns; I used them as a dancer and a figure skater. I braided it then pinned it into a bun. (By that I mean I repeatedly speared it with bobby pins till it stayed.) Except the net didn't fit over the bun so I had to do two buns on either side of my head.
